Devotional: Elder Robert R. Steuer

マリオットセンターへ行こうかと思ったが、一緒にいたブラジル人のルイースが教室で見よう、ということになり、今マリオットスクールの教室でブロードキャストを見ている。

下記がElder Steuerのプロフィール。

Elder Steuer was sustained as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 31 March 2001. He has served as president of the Brazil North Area and has also served as a counselor in that area. Elder Steuer is currently serving in the Missionary and Correlation Departments.

A diagnostic physician, Elder Steuer was founder and chairman of Hemametrics Corporation. He earned bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Minnesota.

引用されていたファウストEの言葉が心に残った。

「人生においては、どのような物事が起こるかが問題なのではなく、起こってくる物事に対し、どのように対処するかが問題なのだ。」

昔、悩んでいたときの僕に、同じようなことを教えてくれた友人がいたが、あれから10年以上経った今、同じメッセージを聞いても、あまり進歩していない自分がいるようで、ちょっと心苦しい。

また、引用していたガンジーの詩も非常に興味深い。

罪とは、働かずに得る富、良心なき喜び、人格なき知識、モラルなき商売、謙遜なき科学、犠牲なき礼拝、そして、原則なき政治だ。
